Five New Judges Take Their Place on the Bench in DC Superior Court
It’s official. The Honorable Rupa Ranga Puttagunta, Ebony Scott, Kenia Seoane Lopez, Sean Staples and Donald Tunnage were each sworn-in this morning.
The Honorable Anita Josey-Herring, Chief Judge of the Superior Court of Washington, DC administered the oath to the new judges this morning.
The five judges take the bench in DC Superior Court. They were each nominated by President Joe Biden late last year and confirmed by the United States Senate earlier this month.
They each bring an extraordinary amount of legal expertise with them to the Court and a deep commitment to public service. They will each serve 15-year terms.
The DC Superior Court has 62 authorized judges. With the five additional judges taking the bench today, 12 vacancies remain in the Court.
The DC Courts join every resident across all eight wards of the District of Columbia in welcoming our new judges to the bench in DC Superior Court.
Congratulations, and welcome the DC Courts Family.
