33rd Annual DC Adoption Day Event to be held November 16

More than 30 adoptions to be finalized at the ceremony

DC Superior Court and the DC Child and Family Services Agency will co-host the 33rd Annual DC Adoption Day ceremony on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10am to noon.  

The ceremony is designed to celebrate the joys of adoption and encourage area residents to consider adopting or fostering a child in the District’s child welfare system.  More than 30 children, several of whom are biological siblings, will be adopted at the ceremony; more than two dozen new families will be formalized.  Each child and his or her family will be introduced to the audience and come forward to have their judge sign the final adoption decree.

WHERE:           Moultrie Courthouse - 500 Indiana Avenue, N.W. - 3rd Floor Atrium         

WHEN:             Saturday, November 16, 2019 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

CFSA is currently seeking permanent, loving, adoptive homes for 60 of the 796 DC children in foster care.  There will be social workers at the event, as well as representatives from local organizations that support foster and adoptive parents and foster children.  Those who cannot attend are encouraged to visit the Heart Gallery at the Moultrie Courthouse beginning November 5, or online at  http://www.adoptionstogether.org/events/heart-gallery/ .   Those interested in fostering or adopting should call 202/671-LOVE, the CFSA information hotline.

Media Note:  Cameras and audio recorders WILL be allowed into the courthouse for the purpose of capturing the ceremony.  Judges and some adoptive family members will be available for interviews at the conclusion of the ceremony.
