DC Superior Court and DC's Child & Family Services Agency to Hold 33rd Annual Adoption Day in Court November 16

November is National Adoption Awareness Month!

DC Superior Court and the DC CFSA will co-host the 33rd Annual DC Adoption Day ceremony on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10am to noon at the Moultrie Courthouse at 500 Indiana Avenue, NW.  All are welcome!

The ceremony is designed to celebrate the joys of adoption and encourage area residents to consider adopting or fostering a child in the District’s child welfare system.  Over thirty children, several of whom are biological siblings, will be adopted at the ceremony; more than two dozen new families will be formalized.  Each child and his or her family will be introduced to the audience and come forward to have their judge sign the final adoption decree.

There will be social workers at the event, as well as representatives from local organizations that support foster and adoptive parents and foster children.  Those who cannot attend are encouraged to visit the Heart Gallery at the Moultrie Courthouse beginning November 5 to see profiles of children in need of permanent, loving homes.  The Heart Gallery is also online at http://www.adoptionstogether.org/events/heart-gallery/ .   Those interested in fostering or adopting should call 202/671-LOVE, the CFSA information hotline.
