DC Court of Appeals Chief Judge to Emcee HistoryPlunge Tournament Featuring 60 DC Students at DC's Historic Courthouse
The DC Courts are proud to be hosting approximately 60 DC school children at the DC Historic Courthouse to participate in the first-ever HistoryPlunge tournament on October 3. HistoryPlunge is a collection of history and civics-related card games developed by LearningPlunge, a non-profit, with assistance from its founder, Arent Fox LLP Partner Alan Fishel. The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery collaborated with LearningPlunge to develop HistoryPlunge. The DC Courts engage with the community around civic education in a range of ways.
For this HistoryPlunge tournament, students in grades three through five will participate in teams of three. Throughout the day they will be challenged by a variety of racing, strategy, and trivia games in which their knowledge of U.S. history and civics, including some specifically relating to DC history, the DC Courts, and our local government, as well as their critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills, will determine who wins this fun-filled competition. Chief Judge Blackburne-Rigsby will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
